Abstract

This short contribution sketches the essential role of Vappu Taipale in the genesis of gerontechnology and in its further development. This concerns only a small section of her life occupation that she shares with her husband Illka on providing a better life for people on the disadvantaged sides of society. She knows the political pathways and brings these to bear on the problems to be solved. Her impressive biography has been added.
