AbstractTo the chief editor of the journal Gerontechnology: We, the undersigned offer our humblest apology for failing to notify the journal of our intent to include Mr.Shawn Applegarth (Deceased) as lead author in our publication entitled “Activation thresholds and operating characteristics of commercial alarm products to provide surveillance for dementia caregivers; doi:10.4017/gt.2013.11.3.007.00”. Mr. Applegarth was both the lead scientist and author on earlier drafts on the manuscript until his untimely demise. His placement as first author reflected our desire to honor his overwhelming contribution to this research endeavor and was not intended to deceive or otherwise mislead the readership of your fine journal. We respectfully ask that Professor Meredeth Rowe be recognized for taking first authorship on the resulting manuscript following the passing of Mr. Applegarth.
